This is very sexy because as a Marketer we have in essence captured warm leads that have shown interest in our offer that we can advertise to.

This strategy will enable you to market to prospects a second time around from those who initially found interest in your offer; yet for one reason or another did not opt-in or buy. With Facebook Remarketing you can potentially market to your prospects from a different angle and offer something similar that provides even more value to ensure a conversion is made.

How To Setup Retargeting

First you need to create a retargeting pixel in Facebook. The tracking pixel is a piece of code placed between the <Head></Head> tags on a specific page(s) of your website where you wish to track visitors. Once someone visits a page that has a tracking pixel, a cookie is then placed on the browser of that visitor and is now segmented on a list to be remarketed to with Facebook ads.

Ideally you’d want to place your pixel on the “Thank you page” of your website or a page the user is redirected to… once an opt-in has taken place. Facebook will continue to build a retargeting list on your behalf as long as the pixel is in place. Let’s say you have an e-commerce store and set up your retargeting pixel on the “Add To Cart Page.” You can then retarget customers with a special discount to help persuade a sale with buyers who initially visited the checkout page but didn’t pull the trigger.

Please note, the retargeting list has to be at a decent audience size before you can start running ads. So in this example of a retargeting campaign, we created a remarketing pixel for every page of the sales funnel e.g., opt-in page, offer page, billing page, and thank you page to create different ads based on website visitor segments.

Opt-in Page – Retarget prospect with a free offer to build your Email list.

Offer Page – Retarget prospect with information to increase their knowledge of your business or product.

Billing Page – Retarget prospect with a discount or promotion to entice a sale.

Thank You Page – Retarget prospect with a blog post or similar offer as their previous purchase.

Be absolutely certain to create tailored ads to your list and see for yourself why Facebook Remarketing is so sexy.
